Calhoun Academy Announces Changes in Athletic Department

Calhoun Academy is pleased to announce several changes within its athletic department as the school continues its commitment to providing outstanding opportunities for student-athletes both on and off the field. Calhoun Academy would like to announce the following coaches for the 2026-2027 school year: 

Kelsey Hydrick will transition into the role of Assistant Athletic Director for Girls Athletics after serving as Head Coach of both the volleyball and basketball programs.

Rhodes Campbell, formerly an assistant basketball coach at Heathwood Hall Episcopal School, has been named Head Varsity and Junior Varsity Boys Basketball Coach.

Lauren Whisenhunt, who has served as an assistant basketball coach for the past two seasons, will become the Head Varsity and Junior Varsity Girls Basketball Coach.

Tonya Branham is returning to lead the volleyball program as Head Varsity and Junior Varsity Volleyball Coach.

Kelly Houck will lead the cheer program as Varsity and Junior Varsity Cheer Coach and will be assisted by AnnaMargaret Weeks as Assistant Varsity Cheer Coach. 

Todd Layton, Athletic Director, expressed enthusiasm about the changes, stating, "We are excited about the future of Calhoun Academy athletics. These individuals bring tremendous experience, passion, and leadership to our programs."

These changes reflect Calhoun Academy's dedication to strengthening its athletic programs, supporting student development, and building upon the tradition of excellence that has long been a hallmark of Cavalier athletics.
